GLISTEN for Children &
Young Adults
GLISTEN for Children & Young Adults is designed to help children and young adults learn about mindfulness & meditation and establish their own daily practice that is tailored to their needs. It is modeled after the Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction Program (MBSR) and is delivered over 8 sessions.


For children 10 and under sessions last 30 minutes.
For older children and young adults, I offer 60 minute sessions if it feels aligned.

Session 1: Establish Connection and Introduction to Mindfulness

Establish a connection by asking some simple questions to better understand what is happening in the child’s life to determine what may be causing anxiety/stress

Guided Body Scan Meditation

Establish a new simple, daily, at home mindfulness practice right away

Session 2: Simple Awareness and Paradigm Shift
​

Experience resting in a state of heightened awareness by activating the parasympathetic nervous system to relax the mind and body

Talk about how focusing on Gratitude and helping the child connect to being grateful for their health/loved ones creates a shift to calm the nervous system and reduce anxiety/stress

Session 3: Introduction of Sitting Visualization Meditation

Connecting to intuition through establishing a mind-body connection

Introduction of the concept of creating space in the mind by learning to release attachment to thoughts and emotions by viewing them from a distance

Session 4: Sound Based Meditation

Teaching the child how meditation can help them open up to receiving clarity and guidance from within to help make decisions with more ease

Teaching child how to ask questions in meditation to receive clarity and guidance

Session 5: Learning to Trust the Process

Allowing what comes up in meditation to be there without judgment or attachment

Introduction of journaling to identify and shed light on the thoughts, emotions and physical sensations that come up during and after the meditation practice

Creating Inspired Actions based on the clarity that begins to show up

Session 6: Guided Wave Meditation

Introduction of the concept of balance through movement and connection to nature

Teaching child about our connection to nature and how spending time playing and gently moving outside helps to reduce anxiety/stress

Session 7: Lovingkindness Meditation

Introduction of the Lovingkindness Meditation to promote the idea of self-love and connection to others

Allowing this feeling of connection to others to support feelings of calm, peace and self confidence

Guided Lovingkindness Meditation
Session 8: Establish a simple, daily personalized practice based on the core concepts offered in the program

Working with the child to establish a daily meditation practice they love, based on which meditations resonate most with them

Creating a short term and long-term plan to help create new routines the child will be happy to bring into their daily life to create lasting results

*Each session includes a professionally recorded audio of the meditation we do together in session so the child can listen at home.
